(1) When appointing Liaison Officer in accordance with Section 20 of the Act, the Government of Nepal may appoint the following persons:-
(a) Civil Service Gazetted First Class or above employees,
(b) Officials of the Nepalese Army or Nepalese Police or Armed Police Force equivalent to third class gazetted civil service officers,
(c) Climbers recommended by climbing organizations designated by the Ministry among Nepalese climbers who have successfully climbed Mount Everest.
(2) According to sub-rule (1), the following conditions must be met when appointing a contact officer:
(a) having received approved basic training in mountaineering,
(b) having at least a bachelor's degree, but in the case of climbers as per clause (c) of sub-rule (1), having at least passed the entrance examination,
(c) certified by a doctor recognized by the Government of Nepal that he is physically fit to go to the base camp of the Himalachuli concerned, and (d) having received a certificate from a recognized organization regarding his ability to communicate with the mountaineer team in English or other languages .
